Augmented Reality Materials

Hello everyone! Today, I’m going to write about the “Augmented Reality” lesson materials we have created with my friend Simge. AR is a technology that enhances materials’ view and allows them to be seen in detail with the help of the computer.

Our topic is “Trip to London”. Students will see British Museum, Big Ben, London Eye, and Tower Bridge in our project. We designed worksheets using “Canva” and made a booklet using the site named “simplebooklet”. Then, we created AR material for 2 places. For 3D AR material, we used a site named “arizear.app”. For the other places, we found 360 videos from YouTube and created QR codes for them. QR (Quick Response) code is a very useful way to access many things as they are fast and simple. Students can scan the QR code to access these materials easily. They are going to check these videos and AR materials, make brief research, and then answer the questions on the worksheet. We also recorded a short explanation video.

To create AR materials, we wanted to use an application named ARize but it was unavailable in Play Store and alternatives had very limited features or didn’t work at all so we had to use the ARize website. Most 3D models required for AR are available for high prices and sometimes it’s almost impossible to find the required model for free. AR is a nice technology but needs to be more common, reachable, and usable.

Here’s the video:

Here’s the QR code of our booklet.

Do not forget to check my friend’s blog! She has such useful and fun posts about education. 😊

That’s all I have. Thank you for reading, please feel free to contact me for anything. See you in the next post!
