Creating a WebQuest

Hi everyone. Today, I’ll be writing about the WebQuest we created with my friend Simge. WebQuest is defined as “an inquiry-oriented online tool for learning”. In this type of lesson, students learn most of the information via researches on the internet. Students open the quest, follow instructions and find the information using technology. The 21st century requires technology-integrated teaching and WebQuest is very useful to integrate technology into non-technological materials. Also, this integration should be fun and interesting for students as well as being instructive.

We used an English prep class for the base of the quest. Our topic is “Celebrities”, which could be interesting for students to learn about. Students have the necessary instructions and links in WebQuest. To create that WebQuest, we used a site named “questgarden”. The website has paid membership option but almost all necessary features are included in one month trial. This site is really simple both for creators and students. It is a bit old with a few simple and non-important problems. For example, the background color button wasn’t working so we couldn’t change the color but in my opinion, an old-looking site with simple and very useful features is way better than a fancy-looking useless site. Pay to breathe in, great, now pay to breathe out!
